This program places qualified students from the Turku University of Applied Sciences in internships throughout the United States in business-related and technical fields. Small groups of students travel to the U.S., attend a group orientation upon arrival, and begin their respective 3-12 month internships at the same time in one of the eligible placement fields. In order to participate, participants must be enrolled or have recently graduated from the university. The program fee is $1,000 per participant. A reduced fee of $650 is available for students who do not need placement services.

- Submit a complete application to Lotta Ylitalo by the application deadline
- Participate in a phone interview with CDS and, if requested, with your potential host organization
- Pay $1,000 program fee, after telephone interview
- Pay health insurance fee of $40/month.
- Review Internship Placement Plan from host organization, sign, and send back to CDS
- Attend appointment at a local U.S. Consulate and pay the Consular and SEVIS fees.
- Secure housing in the U.S. (CDS will offer tips)
- Arrange and pay for your flight to and from the United States, as well as any additional transportation costs within the United States.
Represent your home country in a responsible way

CDS International: |
- Support students in filling out all CDS application materials, including drafting of American-style resume
- Screen students for eligibility and conduct telephone interviews with students prior to their acceptance into the program
- Locate appropriate 3- to 12- month internship position at a U.S host company in the appropriate field and keep students updated on the progress of the internship search.
- Collaborate with host organization to develop a customized Internship Placement Plan (U.S. government requirement for all J-1 visa holders)
- Provide and review all J-1 Visa application documents and requirements, including Form DS-2019
- Arrange health insurance
- Conduct orientation seminar for all participants in New York City
- Provide continuing assistance and in-country support for the duration of the internship

Turku University of Applied Sciences: |
- Designate a university staff member as a main contact for CDS
- Make USAIP information and program materials available to students, as well as answer initial questions about the program.
- Collaborate with CDS to pick an appropriate group start date in early May and to decide on program parameters
- Ensure a minimum number of qualified students apply for each start date
- Review Applications prior to submission to CDS International and prescreen applicants
