ABROADcast

The 2010 ABROADcast video contest is your chance to star in your own short film. You’ll have three minutes or less to show us the life you lived abroad. Entries can be scripted masterpieces, spur of the moment phone clips, or music videos. No prior video experience necessary—just a camera and some heart! Captivate us, inspire us, and of course, entertain us!

Winning entries will be eligible for great prizes including a US$500 travel voucher from STA Travel, an iPod Nano, or a Flickr subscription for two years! Your videos could also be featured in CDS publications.

Who May Enter

Any CDS participant who participated in a program between January 1, 2010 and January 31, 2011 may enter the contest.

What to Enter

We’re looking for a one to three minute video showcasing your life abroad. Previous finalists introduced us to the work they were doing at their internship, discussed the hardships of living abroad, and showed us the joy of living another culture. Check out the 2009 winning entries for inspiration.

Submissions with third party copyrighted material will not be considered. That means that you can’t use that catchy radio single in your video as background music, no matter how well it fits. Make your own music instead! Videos need to be in English or must include English subtitles.

Videos should be submitted as a digital file in .mpeg, .mov, .avi, .mp4, .swf, .qt, or .rm formats. The resolution should be 640 × 480 and mp3 audio at 64K mono.

How to Enter

Download the entry form and follow the detailed instructions. All submssions must be received by CDS International no later than January 31, 2011. Submit this form along with your video by January 31, 2011 using one of the following mediums:

1. Over an FTP server – send login information to
2. Via the website www.yousendit.com – reference
3. Mail your entry burned on a compact disc to:

Win!

An Evaluation Committee will choose the two top prize winners. A People’s Choice Award will also be given to the video that garners the most votes during an online poll.
