Internship Details

CDS International seeks to place WEST participants in customized, professional internships, primarily in the New York City metropolitan area. We will offer each participant personalized advice and ongoing support in preparing resumes, interviewing for internships, and writing business correspondence. A seminar on the U.S. workplace will be provided, and CDS will set clear expectations for the internship search as well as the realities of working life.

Our experience teaches us that participants who are flexible and take initiative are most likely to be successful in securing productive and beneficial internships. Active engagement in the internship placement process is essential for success!

CDS especially encourages candidates who would like to intern in these preferred fields to apply:

• Non-Profit Management
• Public Policy
• Marketing and Communications
• Computer and Information Sciences
• Industrial, Graphic and Fashion Design

CDS will also consider WEST candidates with backgrounds in the following fields:

• Arts and Culture
• Management, Business, Commerce, and Finance
• The Sciences, Engineering, Architecture, Mathematics, and Industrial Occupations

Please note that the ability of CDS International to secure any internship depends on the qualifications of the participant—including English language skills, academic background, previous work experience, and interview performance—as well as the needs of potential host companies.

Internships outside the New York City area are possible for CDS WEST participants. Placement outside the New York City metro area will be considered on a case-by-case basis, taking into account the education, experience, and goals of the participant, as well as likelihood of securing an appropriate internship in New York City.

Below is a list of some of the companies and organizations that have offered internships to CDS WEST participants from previous rounds. Applicants should note that these companies accepted a WEST intern based on the individual intern’s qualifications and the company’s own needs at the time. These companies will not necessarily have any openings for Round 4 WEST participants.
