Apply to the Program

This program provides Yale undergraduate students with an opportunity to complete a paid professional internship in Germany. Please note, however, that internships with non-profit, cultural, or government institutions may be unpaid. Three program options are available: 1) 1-month language course in Germany in June, followed by a 2-month internship with a host company; 2) 3-month internship with a host company, 3) 2-month internship with a host company, starting in late-May or late-June. For participants with a late-May start date, we will conduct an orientation seminar in Germany prior to the internship start. A limited number of stipends is available to those requiring additional language training. Following the personal interview, we will inform you whether additional language training is required.

Responsibilities of Participant:

  • submit an online application by December 3, 2007. All paper applications must be postmarked by December 3, 2007. Further information on the program and the application process can be found in the Program Overview.
  • participate in on-campus interview process and on-campus pre-departure seminar
  • pay $35 application fee, plus $450 program fee if you are accepted to the program
  • arrange and pay for your flight to and from Germany
  • represent your home country in a responsible way
  • non-US citizens are responsible for any visa required by the German Government
Responsibilities of CDS and German partner organization
  • on-campus pre-departure seminar
  • orientation seminar upon arrival in Germany
  • internship placement in your field with a German host company
  • paid internship position (unless an unpaid internship is agreed upon)
  • work authorization and assistance with other bureaucratic matters and housing
  • support throughout the program in Germany and in the US

A $35 non-refundable application fee must be sent to CDS by December 3, 2007. The remaining $450 of the program fee will be due two weeks after official acceptance to the program.
