This program provides practical training opportunities in Germany for enrolled students at, or recent graduates from US universities and colleges (internships must begin within 3 months of graduation). Paid placements are available in business/finance, general administration, tourism, IT, engineering and a variety of other fields. Internships for liberal arts majors are also available, but are likely to be unpaid (history, nonprofit sector, media, international relations, German studies, etc.). Internship duration varies from 3 to 12 months. Programs start individually at the beginning of each month. Apply at least 5 months prior to your desired start date. A limited number of stipends are available to those requiring additional language training. Following the personal interview, we will inform you whether additional language training is required.

Responsibilities of Participant:

• submit an online application at least 5 months prior to your desired start date. All supporting materials must be sent to CDS at least 5 months prior to your desired start date. Further information on the program and the application process can be found in the Program Overview.
• pay $ 500 program fee
• arrange and pay for your flight to and from Germany, plus any additional costs within Germany
• secure housing in Germany (with our assistance)
• represent your home country in a responsible way
• non-US citizens have to take care of any visa required by the German Government

• pre-departure orientation mailing
• orientation seminar upon arrival in Germany (optional)
• enrollment in language course, if necessary (stipends available for those who qualify)
• internship placement in your field with a German host company, paid or unpaid as discussed with you
• work authorization and assistance with other bureaucratic matters
• support throughout the program in Germany and in the US

The total program fee is $500, which includes a $100 administrative fee. A check made out to CDS International must be sent at least 5 months before desired start date. Should your application not be accepted, we will reimburse everything but the administrative fee. Scholarships from the CDS International Scholarship Fund are also available. Qualified candidates will receive further details upon acceptance to the program.
