CDS International: ABROADcast

Share your life abroad on film! The ABROADcast 2008 video contest gives you 3 minutes or less to impress the critics with a video portraying your experiences abroad with CDS. We want to see your memories filmed in an entertaining and original way. This isn’t a family home video contest – let your creative energies flow. Inspire us. Captivate us. There are no limits. ABROADcast 2008 is your contest to win!

Winning entries will be eligible for travel-tastic prizes including a $600 travel voucher from STA Travel, an iPod Nano, or luggage from Rick Steves' Travel Store! Your videos could also be featured in CDS publications.

Who may participate:
Any CDS participant who actively participated in a program between January 1, 2008 and January 31, 2009 may enter the contest. You must have spent at least three months in your host country.

What to enter:
Inspire us with a one to three minute video about your life abroad. Video entries can be scripted masterpieces, spur of the moment video phone shots, or music videos. Whatever you do, be sure the entry is in English or includes English subtitles.

Submissions with third party copyrighted material will not be considered. This means that you can’t use that catchy radio single in your video as background music, no matter how well it fits. Make your own music instead! Break out those bongo drums and start jamming.

Each submission must be submitted as a digital file in .mpeg, .mov, .avi, .mp4, .swf, .qt, or .rm formats with a resolution of 640X480. The resolution should be 640 x 480 and mp3 audio at 64K mono.

How to enter:
Videos can be submitted online, through an FTP server, or burned onto a CD and mailed to CDS. Download an entry form and fill out the information. Submit this form along with your video using one of the following mediums:

Over an FTP server – send login information to Chad Robertson
Via the website www.yousendit.com. Reference Chad Robertson
Mail your entry burned on a compact disc to:

All submissions must be received by CDS International no later than January 31, 2009.

Win!
A group of finalists will be chosen and evaluated by an Evaluation Committee made up of professionals in the international committee. They will choose the top two prize winners. A People’s Choice Award will also be given to the entrant who garners the most votes during a month-long online poll.
